However, many 20-55 kg UAVs still use engines from RC hobbies, which have proven to be poorly durable and reliable. RC engines are designed for leisure flight and operate in moderate conditions with short duration. In comparison, a UAV typically operates at altitudes of 6500-20000 fts (2000-6000 meters), 100-200 hours of time between overhaul (TBO) and 15-30 hours of continuous operation. The propulsion system for a UAV requires special design that tightly combines both mechanical and electrical techniques.
